It's Randolph Connor Berry
I am trying to see how strange it looks if I try to include a slug in the filename with my current rendering rules.
I went a bit sideways tonight and started considering whether I might want to skip writing this myself and try using hugo instead.
I am feeling pretty bad tonight. I don't know whether to blame it on a cold, on new medication, or on playing around with my new 25 lbs kettlebell I got today.
G. still obviously has a cold or something, but it has lasted a long time. If it is still present in a few days we will try to get her started on antibiotics to ensure we aren't dealing with some kind of pneumonia.
I could easily be dealing with the same factors as her.
I am just writing a quick post to fulfil my requirement to write a blog post before I go to sleep.
Maybe I will have two separate directories, one for daily updates and one for essays.
I will have to figure out a reasonable way to display both and have appropriate navigation for each of them.
I am lying here next my daughter while she is sick with a cold. We have all been hit in succcession by some kind of cold. It seems to linger longer than expected, and relapses when it seems like it should be done.
Whatever this is, it has made G. miserable today. She threw up twice this morning, and has been tired and low energy with an easily upset stomach most of the day.
I am just writing a blog post because I need to be writing one each day so that I will figure out what I need to make better as far as my blog setup.
I think I prefer the non-modal editing of emacs as far as my editor for bloging, but I need to install some kind of markdown mode if I want any kind of color or highlighting.
I really need to figure out what I am going to do as far as enabling a way to have standalone essays. At the moment the blog doesn't really do anything except put everything on the front page. It doesn't even have a facility for a permalink at the moment, or even a reference to a specific article or day.
At some point I also need to work on addressing the lack of structure or styling of the website itself.
So far Flask is proving acceptable as the framework - its primary benefit was that it was pretty easy to get going with it. However, I am not sure if it will still be as reasonable a choice if I end up needing to suuport authentication for various blog functions.
At the moment it is fine because I do updates by logging into the server via ssh and doing article updates at the filesystem level. But if I decide to do some kind of web interface for article updates, I will need to implement authentication.
I am doing that thing that I (and others) do where I write about developing my new blog. The question is, once the new blog is working, will I continue to blog, or will I stop posting?
I would like to be able to write essays. The current structure of the blog does not allow for a separate space of essays as opposed to the current sort of daily log or daily highlights that it can currently accommodate.
I am trying to figure out if there is a way to have comments in my blog entries - really so that I can maybe use them for section divisions for some kinds of processing.
This is the first post using the new Markdown rendering capability of the blog.
It's not perfect but I now have a way to do some kind of blogging from all of the devices that I usually use.
I am not sure how easily it will be to do long writing in markdown or via the current particulars of this blog.
I am trying to write a blog
Today I am trying to get the blog to read files of html
another day I will probably try to get it to consume markdown
I am going to have to figure out how I am going to handle multiple posts per day. I'm not sure how I am going to handle the filename scheme and any kind of title for multiple post
This is only a test post
Today I was working on my blog and using fake posts
But in the future I will be reading from real files
